The Bledsoe County Veteran’s Park is one of the major focal points of the revitalized downtown Pikeville area.

The site of the park is on Main Street next to the Bledsoe County court house and borders Cumberland Avenue on the south side.

The park encompasses approximately 6400 square feet and was built to honor those brave men and women who have served our country in the military as far back as WWI. By their service they have provided for us the freedom we enjoy today. This veteran’s park was built that they might not be forgotten.

The eight-foot-wide Walk of Honor, surrounding the park, will be laid with engraved brick pavers. The pavers will be available for purchase by anyone for themselves or their loved ones

At the center of the inner sanctuary, the park has a thirty-two foot, ground level, five-point star with a flag pole at the tip of each point as well as a pole in the center flying the American Flag. A flag will also hang from each pole representing each branch of service. At each star inset, there is a double-faced, granite monument where the names of our Bledsoe County veterans are engraved.

On the back stone wall, the names of veterans from outside Bledsoe County who so desire will be placed as well as civil war veterans from Bledsoe County. The wall has eleven granite plaques. The wall has a center opening for access from the farmers market.

At the Main street entrance, there are donor stones with names engraved in appreciation of those who gave significant contributions to the Bledsoe County Veteran’s Park. There is also a stone for those who gave in-kind contributions.

At the corner facing Main and Cumberland Avenue, there is an eight-foot-tall, waterfall with three individual falls.

At the property corner next to the courthouse on Main street construction has started on a 36-inch granite water globe resting on a granite pedestal. It is expected to be completed in early 2017.
